About us

My name is Janessa. I am an artist.

I’ve spent decades of my life rejecting that label for fear of its potential associations…

  • Artists are not serious.
  • Art isn’t a real job.
  • Artists don’t make money.
  • Anyone can call themselves an artist.

The irony is that upon beginning my Healthcare MBA, while pregnant with my first child, I recall reading a book about how I should really be getting my Master of Fine Arts vs. an MBA. The author stated design is what truly influences us.

I stuffed the notion aside immediately for fear of agreeing with it, for fear of seeing it as a sign, and potentially making a foolish decision to not carry forward with my ‘very professional” MBA.

Growing up in northern Minnesota lake country busing tables and cleaning rental cabins at my parents ‘mom and pop’ resort taught me the value of hard work and loyalty at an early age. As I watched them struggle, it also taught me to stay away from professions lacking a strong foundation that might waver with the weather or be vulnerable to a recession. Thus, art was nowhere on the agenda. knew I had to pay for my college loans, start saving, and get serious about my future at an early age.

There is nothing worse than standing in your own way, but there you have it. Pursuit of creativity would remain a hobby, as it was a luxury I couldn’t afford and a risk I was not brave enough to take.

Yet, here I am at 42, making this move and already and it already feels right.

I am fusing my business background, my Lean SixSigma Greenbelt, and my artistic interests together to see what joy I can create in this world.

Splendiforous Life, LLC also includes my ‘team’ of product testers, label makers, and sales people (my daughters) and a financial advisor (my husband).

With that kind of team, how can you go wrong?

Creatively, Janessa
